In October 2009 a congregation of 200 Australian motorcycles and scooters rode together from the Brighton to Hawthorn on the inaugural Melbourne Mods v Rockers day charity run.

Mods v Rockers 2

The event was a huge success in this tradition the Mods and Rockers came together in November 2010 to once again put their best wheels forward for the OzChild charity. Attendance was up by 20% and takings increased by more than 60%, so the donation to OzChild for 2010 will be $3500.

Goodwill from Melbourne motorcyclists, scooterists, supporters and organisers ensured everyone had a great time. The day commenced at Brighton Beach, Melbourne, where motorcyclists and scooterists gathered for breakfast. Here people mingled and took photos of the motorcycles, scooters and riders who dressed for the occasion in traditional Mods and Rockers attire.

Any rivalry was light-hearted, including a Tug of War on Brighton Beach. This hilarious battle saw Mods and Rockers heaving on the ends of the rope and which saw ultimate victory go to the Rockers. Not to be outdone, the Mods then stormed the Rockers on Brighton Beach to take on their ‘rivals’ of old in a more traditional, but far less organised manner. Then, 240 scooters and motorcycles rode from Brighton Beach to the Kustom Lane Gallery, Hawthorn, to enjoy a barbecue and festivities which continued throughout the afternoon. This included a ‘show and shine’ competition and much leg pulling between the Mods and Rockers.
