Mod classics from The Sets
By: Mau Spencer
The Sets, Australia's premier Mod band of the 80s have finally released an album of their uniquely Mod classics called ‘Another Generation’. The Sets talked the talk and walked the walk, wore the clothes and rode the scooters. The songs, including 'Clean Living, Difficult Circumstances', 'One of the Faces' and ‘Life on a Li’ reflect their total involvement in the movement not just as performers, but leaders, organisers, supporters and participants.
The Sets were first and foremost: spreading the Mod story across Sydney. The 1981 Melbourne Tour lives on in the memories of all who went along for the ride! Led by the legendary Hosie brothers, The Sets blazed a trail in a country for which Mod was considered alien at best. Nevertheless, The Sets converted hundreds through their exciting live shows and charisma. This was most personified by Don Hosie, the undisputed ‘Ace Face’ of the scene and a true Mod hero.
