Happy New Year!

Now, who in their right mind would take their scooter on the road during the arctic conditions we’ve experienced recently – they’d have to be mad? Well, if you look at our cover picture, you’d be forgiven if you thought that Daniel Toothill from Kirton in Lindsey was such a person – but he isn’t.

It took a bit of persuasion by Rich, our photographer, to convince Daniel to get his 1962 Li 125 Series 2 out of his shed to take this picture. With all that snow around, we couldn’t miss the opportunity of obtaining a topical picture, could we?

Daniel tells us that his scooter is a genuine Italian model (apart from having a 12v kit fitted) with all the details being kept as close to the original specification as possible – even to the daft rear light unit having 3x festoon bulbs inside that are about as bright as tea light candles!

Anyway, thanks Daniel for getting your pride and joy out in these weather conditions. If you ask Rich, our photographer nicely, he’ll wash any salt off for you and you can put it away again until the weather improves.

On the subject of the weather, I’ll apologise now for the problems that it has caused, in as much as we couldn’t get out of Lincolnshire to tidy up a couple of features we had planned for this issue. They haven’t been forgotten and hopefully we’ll be able to reschedule them in time for the next issue.

That’s about it for now, but before I go, I’d just like to say thanks for all the ‘get well’ messages I’ve received during my short spell of absence due to a routine hospital operation.
