Dream custom scooter

For many years, Ric Butler from Scunthorpe could only dream of owning a cherished Lambretta and could only watch as immaculate scooters passed him by when he was out and abou
1967 SX150 Italian import
Achance meeting with local dealer, Mike Stringer, from KBR Scooters, introduced Ric to this stunning 1967 SX150 Italian import, which Mike had restored. Mike brings in a few of these machines every year and – as you can imagine – they go like proverbial hot cakes as soon as they have landed on our green English shores.
Mike had totally restored this scooter in diamond white with flashes of a candy apple red, and it didn’t take Ric long to get his wallet out to make his purchase. It came as a standard-looking Lambretta. Ric commented: “I had to add all the extras like flyscreen, Florida bars, carrier, badge bar and mirrors for it to look just how I intended.”
Having now owned it since around March 2009, Ric admits to not travelling very far on the upgraded 185cc motor, but he reckons it runs sweet and hopes to attend a few events this year – not if the rain falls though... we had to delay the photoshoot due to him never taking it out when wet; ha ha ha! At least one thing’s for sure; someone will do a roaring trade out of him for polish over the coming season. Just watching him and the way he cares for this piece of history in scootering, it could well last another 34 years without any trouble.
