Charity Mod event rides into Kentish Town
By: Mau Spencer
Fundraisers for veterinary charity PDSA are celebrating the 60s at a special event in London on Saturday 2 October 2010. Throughout the day, Mod memorabilia and vintage 60s music and clothing, such as Fred Perry, Ben Sherman, Levis, plus other iconic clothing and accessories including parkas, loafers and trilbies, will be on sale at the charity’s Kentish Town store.
Then in the evening, there will be a free night of entertainment at the nearby Abbey Tavern, 124 High Road, Kentish Town, starting at 6pm. Local band, The Weller Collective, will be playing live and there will also be various Northern Soul DJs performing. Selected memorabilia will be up for grabs through a raffle taking place, which will also raise funds to support PDSA’s work caring for sick and injured pets.
Tam Melling, store manager, said: “Our Mod and 60s event promises to be a great day and a fantastic night out and will help to raise lots of funds for PDSA. So why not make a day of it and visit us in store to check out our great range of items on sale, then join us in the evening as we party the night away to some great music from the likes of The Who, The Kinks and Rolling Stones, as well as Northern soul, Motown, Reggae and Ska.”
The event kicks off at PDSA’s store at 249 High Road, Kentish Town, on Saturday 2 October, during which the memorabilia will be on sale from 10am to 5pm. The evening event takes place at The Abbey Tavern, 124 High Road, Kentish Town, from 6pm to 1am
Tam is also appealing for donations to help make the event a success. For more information please call the store on 0207 485 6153.
This year, PDSA will provide over 2 million free treatments to the sick and injured pets of people in need at a cost of over £50 million. The charity receives no Government or lottery funding for its PetAid services, and relies solely on the generous support of the public to continue its work.
